So I know this guy.....

Working out a deal on his truck. 95 F350 CC SRW 4x4 7.3/E4OD with 220K on it. Has had some recent work done to it, and looks to be in good shape. Hopefully we can strike a deal up in the next month or two and it will be coming home to me

Quick question. I have a sneaking suspiscion that it has a cork gasket on the oil pan, as he said it was leaking oil from there. They say just use RTV on an IDI, same for the PSD? He also says its leaking oil from where the dipstick goes into the block, anything to look for there?

If we get it, right off the bat its getting an Auxillery cooler, gauges, straight pipe and a 6637 filter. Will stay that way for a while.

It mainly hinges on engine. He also mentioned blow by was more than normal. He is going to have his mechanic compression test it. If it has good compression it will come home. Truck is in Houston so it's to far to just go visit with my schedule. Paint isn't the best, probably due to no wax and the Texas sun.

WHo ever installed a cork gasket on the pan is an IDIOT. They use the Gray RTV just like an IDI. And the dipstick goes into the oilpan(hope the nuts are NOT stripped)

The leak dipstick adapter has an orings on it.normally the motor has to come out to fix it.there is a write up on doing it in the truck over at SDD.most times the big nut needs to be tightened up.

Oil dipstick is very common on 7.3 PSD. Do a search, you will see that it can be done without removing the engine, although it's a pretty sketchy method. I know a couple of people who've done it successfully, they said lots of patience and very careful.

Doesn't look to bad but defiantly not fun pushing something into the oil pan hoping it doesn't go to the bottom

Ive fixed many leaking dipstick o rings by using grey silocon on the outside.

But if you have to pull the pan to rip the gasket out and seal it correctly, then it is no big deal

Exactly. He said it was leaking oil at the dipstick and the oil pan....hopefully its just the dipstick leaking onto the oil pan. I dont think the motor has been pulled so I really dont think it has a gasket on the oil pan.

Cant wait to get a PSD though. As much as I love IDI's, I sure do miss my parents truck! Got to drive it some through high school while my truck was getting painted.
