Smokin out of intake

I have some smoke coming out my intake, by the glow plug on the driver side up front. I thought it was coming from the GP hole but upon further investigation its defiantly coming from the intake. Could this be the cause of my badly shaking motor? What is my course of action for repairing this?

quite frankly ,the only time I've seen that is when the motor was running backward on a cat diesel. The oil pressure should read zero also.

If this is the case, shut the motor off and restart it and watch the OP gauge and make sure you have oil pressure. When in first gear , the truck will go backward if the motor is running backward.

Actually I've seen this in GM diesels too, come too think of it.

if it was a gas engine yes--diesel,no--only AIR is going into the engine there--like he said--sure it aint coming up around the injector,meaning injector loose--???? could be gp loose also--

Ill look again tomorrow but it sure looked like it was coming from the intake...

It is coming from the same area as the glow plugs on the drivers side up front just left of the glow plug. Wonder if I can go get a photo of it or better yet a video.

when its running--take the bottle of glass cleaner--and spray around the gp, and the injector. one or the other should show air bubbles--or a major leak!!!!

I should tell you all I am getting major blowby right now. I will show a video at idle and a video of it idled up, lets see if it goes away if not at idle.

In a backward running diesel air is taken in via the exhaust and exhaust is expelled via the intake.

It rarely but sometimes occurs during a stall .............a unintentional restart happens, only the motor runs backward

I had a DT466 do this to me twice...people looked twice when the backup alarm came on and I pulled FORWARDS to get out of traffic to shut it down manually lol

if you are having a blowby issue, if the valley pan is not sealed under the intake in that area it could push blowby out and thats what your seeing. try taking the oil fill cap off with it running and see if it stops it or if it gets less.

I do believe I may have some stuck rings causing the excessive smoke?

have you tried running a couple treatments of auto-rx in the oil? also there is some oil treatment that frees up rings and breaks down sludge in the engine at autozone. its called RISLONE its in a yellow bottle and its about a 1/4 of the price of auto-rx. i believe in both of them for freeing up rings and it'll clean up the internals so if you ever decide to rebuild and on my 6.9 it gave me alot more oil pressure.

I would bet that the valley pan is not sealing somewhere around there, and the blowby is getting pushed though. Can't tell though with all that snow coming down. -lmao
