Got the ol gal in the garage after 20 minutes trying to start it, what a chore.

-gunna be putting in new Beru glow plugs to replace the junk the PO installed
-valve cover gaskets (gunna be a PITA)
-return line kit (when it arrives, hopefully tuesday)
-new speedo gear to correct the milage
-transfer case output seal
-removal of the sway bars
-removal of the reciever hitch
-wet sand and buff the lenses
-fix the parking brake

only thing im unsure of is the rear pinion. its all wet around the yoke. im sure the nut has backed off a little but i wonder if i shouldnt just replace the seal as well. only thing is i dont have a inch pound torque wrench.

also gunna be installing the pyro if i can and turning the pump up a hair or so. anyone have a wiring diagram for an autometer pyrometer? the PO of the kit removed the harness and some wires so i need to put them back in.

sounds good, why do you need an inch pound torque wrench? you are not setting the gears up just replacing the seals. i am not sure but i dont think your axle has a crush sleeve so you should just leave the shims and torque the yoke back up right? just make sure the yoke is good to and it is not dug in where it rides or it wont seal up right again.

that and dont forget to seal the headlights back up after sanding. once you remove the outer "skin" of the plastic they can break back down much faster after that.

good luck

Update: Day #1

removed the return line and plastic fittings. the rubber hose was splitting at the ends and was very hard. the plastic felt sort of rubbery on the inside. i didnt take the o-rings off the injectors yet, tomorrow is another day. also broke 2 of those silly clips.

removed the valve covers, what a PITA with AC. had to take the filter head off and reroute the glow plug harness but i got the ****** out. the gaskets were so brittle they broke like potato chips...no wonder things leaked, suprised they didnt leak more.

glow plugs...well this here has me angry. i got 7/8 removed, hopefully the other ******* till come out tomorrow after a generous bath in PB blaster. out of the 7 i pulled 5 were champions with one tip begining to swell, one was a Beru and one was an autolite. all the GP tips were black and carboned up.

also removed the CDR, which was all oily inside and the rubber looked to be rotting. so im gunna replace that while i am in there.

i would love to replace the injectors while its apart but funds wont allow it...ah well found out i have code BB injectors...i wouldnt mind swapping em for a purdy set of Gs...

also came to the realaztion that the return lines and injectors are original yet...kinda cool.
