Shifting problems

I have a 99 powerstroke and it seems to be taking off in second gear and not shifting. Was told it could be a neutral safety switch but wasn't sure. I have replaced the vehicle speed sensor and just wanted to get other opinions before spending a lot of money.

Is the O/D on/off button on the end of the shifter flashing?

No it was before I changed the vehicle speed sensor but now it is not

Make sure none of your lights are out.

Check for codes. You can have stored codes without a flashing OD OFF light.

Your trans Digital Range sensor may be bad or not lined up for neutral position, about $50.

Could be the connector is loose.

Don't confuse it with a MLPS. 2nd pic.

Both have a line that has to be lined up for Neutral position.
