SAD SAD Week for the Brewer IDI stable

It was a hard decision, but I had to let my '92 F350 crewcab go this week. I loved that truck...put over 100,000 miles on it and created a lot of memories.
But it was at a point where this summer I needed to replace the IP and injectors, shocks, clutch, front bushings, and paint soon. I simply don't have time for it. I have two other IDI's to tinker with, finish building my shop, get a new business off the ground, finish a partial and ongoing remodel of our house, etc, etc...

However, it was replaced with another 1 ton diesel for my driving satisfaction. Without going into a lot of detail, see my signature.

Flamesuit on and zipped, nomex gloves and hood-check.

OK, let the abuse begin...

I see no real wrong with the Dura/Allison combo as they are proving themselves to be quite the powerhouse.

What I DO find fault with and have to call you a complete for is going with...........

I wish I would have had more time to offer it up for sale here. I only had one day to do the deal and get zero % interest on the new one. It was in excellent condition...no corrosion anywhere. Spent it's whole life in New Mexico. Less than a $1000 worth of mechanical work needing done in the next few months and it would be like new again. My ass is still sore from the screwing I took on that trade, but I new that would happen. It was a trade-off between "wants" and "needs".

SWONK.....Big difference between flame retardant and flame proof. Hope you have an Aluminized aircraft crash and salvage entry suit with a good gold lens in the helmet, Nomex isn't going to help you here when they start dropping the ******.

No swonking here. I still have my IDI too, and every time I think that duramax is low on power, I drive the old IDI...

Just keep your foot out of it in the rain. I can barely accelerate in wet weather. Oh, and I got an '06 lly, so you've got a bit on me still.

Enjoy yer new ride. My neighbor has one and already has 102k miles on it and still on OEM tires. He hauls new TTs from mfg to dealers. So far just a EGR valve problem. The friggin' air filter costs $60.00 . He changed the Allison fluid today. $50.00 for in pan filter, $50.00 for the frigging gasket, $50.00 for the fluid. Well, that's enough "Chevy Profanity" for today. good luck with it, OkieG

You were the first person I thought of...just didn't have the time to put it together. I only got $3200 for it, which is half what I could have sold it for quickly and less than half what it's worth compared to selling prices of others I've seen. Sorry. If I'd had more than one day, I would have been on the phone to you. When they came back with the offer, I almost kept it . Carla said I was NOT bringing both of them home. And, even though it was an insulting offer , it knocked a pretty good amount off the monthly payment on the new one. I had to put my feelings aside and make the decision out of necessity.

The other truck you and I talked about is still available. I've seen it in person since then and it looks better than the pictures I sent. Didn't drive it, but it sounds good. I believe the price may be going down by this time. :Sly

Thank you everyone for the support and limited swonking. Like I said, it was a very hard decision to make. I am very happy with the new truck...650lbs of torque with no modifications is a thrill to drive. Smoked a Trans Am the other day. And that was without making any smoke! Now if I could just figure out how to get rid of that damn bowtie on the grill...


Anyway, the next three weeks will be spent IDI'ing. Gotta get some mechanicals fixed and a ton of body work done on my daughter's truck so I can get it painted before she goes back to school. Then I'll be looking at putting a turbo on Carla's truck. That's the fun stuff!

Tom, since you've shared with me some of your insight, I'll spare you a vigorous swonking for now. The swonking would not so much be for selling your IDI (considering you have two left), as for propping up GM instead of Ford, but I commend you for remaining loyal to your country.

I tell ya I wish I could have gone with Ford. When I asked them if they would honor my wife's $6000 GM discount, they handed me a crack pipe. Actually if Carla had it her way, I probably would have been down at the Dodge dealer. Imagine that from a Chevy employee! Her dealership General Manager has been on her butt for a while about buying a Chevy and stop parking that ********* Ford out in front of the office. Well, she bought the Chevy, but the ********* Ford will still be sitting in front of the dealership. Gotta love it!
