The new engine for my truck has the typical N/A return line routing. I looked at my turbo routing modifications and understand what has been done. I then mocked up the turbo and proceeded to wonder why the origional routing would not work. It does not seem like it is too close to the turbo to present a heat problem. If it is there is definitely room to put a sheild in there. I took some pics of the mock up. The return line in question has wire loom protection wrapped around it. If this deems absolutely unacceptable, I am gonna need the sungle port return cap for that location.

yep, I ran mine on the front of the intake and made a sheild to cover it from being melted.

So did you replace the return line cap with a single port version or keep the 90 degree two port return cap and just run the hose forward and back towards the rear on the driver's side?:dunno

Pretty much just kept the fittings the same. As per my turbo install guide I downloaded, I simply went to the parts store, got a longer section of hose and ran it from the rearmost fitting around the front of the intake to the other side to where it joins to run back to the tanks...

My only issue now is with my Hypermax kit, it puts the up-pipe on the driver's side where my return line runs back to the tank. I guess about an inch is fine as per the guide for clearance, but that isn't enough for me. Heat wrap going on as soon as we can get into decent temps to throw on some ceramic paint. ;Sweet

By the pictures, I can't tell which ATS turbo you have.
I've got the 088 and with that one it comes with a heat shield and you leave the lines in place as per the original instructions. Being the captain overkill that I am, I put some firesleeve on those lines and GP wires running right under the turbo, but the;ve never shown any signs of heat exposure

Thanks guys. My turbo does have the heat shield so I do want to figure out which one I have. Is this number in the casting or something? It is a waste gated model and I believe its a '92 vintage or so. I bought the truck from the origional owner and he said it was put on when the truck was about year old.

If its wastegated and its ATS then its a 093, unless the compressor housing is purple then its a aurora2000
