Repairing tank selector valve?

Okay,
I sucked some junk up into my tank selector valve this morning and it quit working. I stopped by Ford to see what it would cost for new one and they want $350. For that much I figured I would try and repair the one I have. I took it apart and got the spring loaded valves moving again. I think my electric motor is fried though. I plugged it in without the valve part attached and it didn't move. Now with the valve part attached I am getting a gauge reading from the same tank regardless of ifs its set on front or rear and when I blow air through the valve it doesn't change the output. Is there something I am missing? There was some fluid that came out when I split it in half. I figured it was just diesel....am I correct?

Does anyone happen to have a used valve that they would be willing to part with? Thanks

Sorry but it sounds like wrecking yard tour time. Hard past of that is finding a good one. For now what you can do to drive the rig is bypass both the suction and return lines to either the front or rear tank. It will get you by till you find one without being rushed.

I have tried to use junkyard valves and always had leaks. The diesel valves are a little different construction inside, I was told, and have not found a way to repair them. There are a few Ford places that will sell it for a little cheaper, but not many. This is one part that just costs money to replace, unless you go to a manual fuel switch, then install a fuel tank sender switch to show your levels on the dash.

I got mine halfway working so I am not in a huge rush. Now have a gauge for the front tank and can run off of it. The electric motor that switches it overheated from binding up and fried. Just doesn't have enough strength left to open the valves. Thing was smoking when I pulled it apart.
