I don't see why not. Just need to modify the lines and make a new arm for the float. I'd probably snip off the fuel pump wiring and bracketry as well. As long as the resistance range is correct for your gauge you should be good. When I did the 38 gal rear I used F26E tank. I believe the only difference is F26D has the ring/support in the filler for the vent hose which supposedly can be knocked out easily without damage and possibly needing to make new locating notches in the sender area to clock it differently. For the relatively small difference in price I went with the F26E to be sure I wouldn't have any trouble and to save a little time.
