Some gauges you dont really need to buy the expensive ones. Boost gauges, oil pressure, ect...they are all pretty simple and will be pretty close to one another.

but

A pyro is a place you dont want to skimp. If your going up a grade towing and your gauge read 1100* your like "oh its all good", but its actually 1200*...you might not be so good. I wouldnt buy a pyro other than ISSPRO, autometer, name brand.

o i see. well i dont want want to melt my motor so i guess a good pyro is cheaper than a motor. any ideas where to get a cheap name brand one? ebay is pretty high.

I see the location is China, that's why the shipping is high. If you notice the guage only goes to 1200*, you would want a guage that would go to at least 1400*. Cheap is cheap, not for me.

VDO is alright, don't know about their pyros though. Like said egauges.com is a good place to start.

VDO is a good brand and is often used by OEMs for exotic cars, boats and planes. I had an older one that came with my ATS 088 kit but it finally gave up the ghost a while ago. I have no idea how old it was but it likely had a rough life.

I bought my ISSPRO from egauges. It was about $120 total for the gauge and thermocouple.

I really dont think you need the lead wire for the ISSPRO gauges because the amplifier box has a pretty long cable already. I bought one and ended up not using it.
