I know having a RDT you get smoke coming out but how much should I be seeing. I only ask this because a friend of mine looked at this and wondered if I was getting a lot of blow by. Is there a foreseen issue if it's smoking to much, valve issue maybe?. Truck runs and sounds like it always have. Random question anyone have some thoughts.

A *ton*. This is why older Cummins motors may have RDTs, but 6.9/7.3 IDIs(as well as 6.2/6.5 Chevy IDIs) have CDRs.

Our IDIs have large ring gaps by design. Tons of blowby is totally normal.

Figured but wanted to ask, the friend that mentioned this owns newer power strokes and we work on my truck together a lot. There is usually a lot of laughter swearing and jokes flying around about the comparison of the two. He has a very built 6.0 and every time I drive it getting back in my truck is...........humbling.
