Many many years ago, I had a local shop convert my A/C to R134a.

They installed a new "low-side" quik-couple, but the high-side is still the old R-12 one.

My nice shiny new set of gauges are R134a specific and will not connect to the old R-12 connector.

My uncle that used to do refrigeration work had some kind of adapter for just such occassions, possibly even home-made.

My question is :

Just what do I need to either add the correct R134a fitting, or adapt my R134a gauge-hose to couple to the old R-12 fitting ??


If I get the proper R134a fitting, will I have to evacuate the system to install it ??

just buy the adapter at the auto parts store and screw it on no need to evacuate

Its just as posted above or go to any wrecking yard and "borrow one" from any converted ac system. It doesn't need to be only from a ford truck... Could be from a dodge or chevy too...

Some Chevys are different on the high side.
