I have a manual transmission. And I've heard that it's possible to push start a diesel, has anyone done it? I used to do it with my pocket rockets in the 80's on gas powered cars - but just wondering if there's a special procedure to push start a diesel?

Ive pull started my 86 F250 with my 86 F350 before, but I got going like 45 and the F250 was in 4th when my friend let out the clutch. It lit right off, but then again it had a nice shot of ether in it.

No special procedure. You just need enough power in the batteries to open the FSS solenoid (around 9 or 10 volts I think).

I roll start my truck all the time when it's parked on the hill. You only need to be rolling a little, just enough to overcome compression resistance.
