can someone please tell me if i got #1 at tdc on compression stroke the dowell pin on pump should be at 5 o clock

The Image in POST 7 shows the relationship very very clear, 4 or 5 o clock is subjective to the person saying it...

The dowel pin location is realative to wether the gear, cover and pump have ever been removed to change the injection pump. So please tell us if you or someone else has changed the injection pump lately. Its nearly impossible to get the correct gear timing when the pump comes off with the cover and gear still attached. Also remember the cam and injection pump gear is twice as large as the crank gear and they turn half the rpm as the crank turns. I believe the pin is at the 4 o clock position but thats subjective to where your looking from as posted already. What is it you trying to do. Find top dead center. If so just remove the golw plug from cylinder number one and crank the engine by hand or by the solenoid. As air rushes out slow down and hand crank it till the timing marks on the tab and dampner line up. Thats top dead center...
