I think that my pump timing is somewhat retarded. I've been trying to buy a snap-on or rotunda timing meter off of e-bay, but haven't got one yet. So in the meantime I'm going try to advance the timing a hair at a time, just to see if there is any improvement. So can anyone tell me which bolts to loosen up to be able to turn the pump. Also which direction to turn it to advance the timing.

there are 3 nuts on the flange where the IP connects to the IP drive gear housing. space is tight so you will have to get a 9/16 box end wrench and grind it down to fit between the nuts and the pump body. loosen the 3 nuts and turn the pump top toward the passenger side to advance. scribe a mark on the flange for reference. you can use a large crescent wrench on the top of the pump if you're careful. . turn no more than the thickness of a dime and see how it runs.
