Goofy. Not to bust your balls, but I think You should listen to G.W.

By the looks of that plow, I think my 4 wheeler blade is stronger and only has 900lbs pushing it not 7,000

I wish i had a picture of that, id post it up. But nobody thought to snap a pic of it parked on the plow... Im tellin yall thou, it was a sight to see.

Guys,

Interesting thread.

Excuse my ignorance, but ...

Is that rubber at the bottom edge of the plow blades? Does the weight of the blade cause it to rest on/follow the surface?

I'm guessing the vertical sticks at the R & L edges are locators if the entire blade is submerged in snow.

Are those electric motors in the plow mounts to raise/lower the blade?

Why are the additional lights needed?

Regards,

Some are rubber, but most are a steel cutting edge that can be worn down and replaced. Some of the lighter plows have a piston connected directly to the blade to give "down pressure" But most just use the weight of the plow to hold it down

The markers are there to see the plow when it is in the lowered position and out of site

Yes. electric over hydraulic pumps. Goofys is an electric winch like a 4 wheeler uses. They also have what they call central hydraulics that has a belt driven or PTO pump
Why are the additional lights needed?
Addition lights are needed because when the plow is raised, it blocks the trucks lights
Regards,

Hope that helps

I got lucky with my pickup - I didn't need the extra lights or turn signals so I took off the light setup. With the plow off the ground ~4" to get good radiator flow the headlights easily shine over the blade and the turn signals are clearly visible.

I've used that 8' footer for over 10 years and 35 accounts per year.

I try my hardest to not hit curbs, but if I don`t know the terrain, its 1st gear, low range for me.`

I did a BUNCH of fab work this afternoon. Just used all the scrap angle iron I could find to build it. Turned out pretty sharp and it`s 100% functional.

Here is my '87 Chevy C70. It's got a very beat on Western 9' Heavyweight and older cable operated pump. I put together all of the undercarriage and bumper myself. Its been on the Atlantic City Expressway, dealership lots, churches, ect. I also have a 2 wheel Gravely walk behind and am working on a Western 8' Unimount for the F350. THe red GMC 4500 crew cab you see in a couple of the pics is my brothers.
