I'm sure someone has posted something that could answer this question, but here it goes. I have an '00 PSD SC 4x4 and I noticed that I had a wicked slop/wonder in my front end. I replaced everything on the front end except the ball joints and the steering gear/gear box. Needless to say it made it a little better, but it is still sloppy and my steering wheel has a lot of play. My questions is, because I can't seem to find anyone that can agree on what it is, what I want to know is with everything I've replaced is it the steering gear box going out? Let me know what you think or links to threads about this issue.

On other trucks I've dealt with in the past, my advice would be the steering box. Those gears can get worn out and create a lot of slop.

Super Duty steering box is prone to wear/ premature failure. We had to replace one on one of our ranch pickups due to the same problems.
