well my 6.9 is a '86, i upgraded the rockers and the GP system. ;Sweet but the best of the best block eh? :D

the only thing i think of when i see an ambulance, especially in the boneyard, is some young EMT BURYING the hammer all the way across town, to the hospital, making that diesel scream and cry. all the stopping and accelerating fast. :puke:

Well, the block upgrade was in '86, just the rest were in '87... I have an '86 going in and I'm pulling all the goodies off the 7.3 too.

Actually, I believe the block upgrade was about midway through the '85 model year. FWIW, the upgraded block started with serial number 173828.

My thoughts exactly. A rig like that would make a cool work truck/conversation piece, but the chances of it having been abused throughout its life are VERY high. Add to that the fact that emergency vehicles tend to spend a lot of time idling....my guess is that that truck's going to be needing quite a bit of work someday. Not saying that it should be avoided, but it's something to keep in mind when determining how much it's worth to you...

Might get you through the Dunkin drive-thru faster with the lights and sirens whaling...LOL

I was at a Hess station one time fueling up. The manager came out and asked if I was going back to base after I was done fueling. Not knowing what he was talking about I told him I would. He then said hold on a minute wait right here I have something for you and then he went back inside and came out with 3 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts said take these to your base. I thanked him and left but I will say it was really hard to hold back from laughing when he gave them to me :rotflmao

They were good too ;Sweet
