this truck is going to be the death of me.
before i work on my IDI, i need my PSD fixed.

it all started when i installed a new radio with the same JVC to FORD stereo harness.

threw multiple GEM module codes.
replaced and programmed the GEM, by the ford dealer.

still throwing 2 codes.
P1670- EF feed back signal
P0603- ICM, KAM

did some searching and found that i need to check for power at pin # 55 to the PCM.

this power is said to have power coming from fuse #36, but some state that fuse 36 is on the under the hood fuse/relay panel.
some say that for this application fuse # 36 is not used...

can anyone shed some light on this???

greatly appreciate it.

truck wouldnt fire at all this morning after getting groceries.
finally got it to fire.
took battery's in to oriley's and had them tested.
1 shorted, the other was on its way out.
got 2 new battery's got parts to replace connectors but have not done them yet.

checked fuel filter, and found it needed to be changed, replaced.
got a new oil filter and delo 400 to do an oil change tomorrow.

going to check pin # 55, but if i have no power, where does it get power from??

sorry for the confusion, for I, myself am completely confused.

Ignore the P0603 code, KAM code comes from the disconnected batteries.

P1670 is a problem with the IDM. Either a shorted or failing IDM or relay.

If you have access to a Ford factory manual. Follow the FJ pinpoint test.

so much different info on where this relay is....
gonna start with the relay if i can find it...
im guessing under the hood, but, which one?
ford didnt do a great job labeling them.

i replaced the IDM about 1.5 year ago with a ford IDM,
maybe it took a crap.
ill be replacing both tomorrow, sounds better than f'n with the PCM connector.

hopefully this cures the no start issue.

kinda hesitant on using the 97 IDM, seeing as some of these engines have single shot vs. split shot.
think ill test mine after mama gets home, and if i find it to be faulty, ill buy one from ford tomorrow.

The difference for split vs single is in the pcm. Hang on, let me take a look around. I have a pdf on testing the wiring and maybe the idm itself.

The only difference is the voltage. SD uses a little higher voltage. Go ahead and give it a try.
When you pull out the SD IDM, check it for water damage. Many IDMs die from the "water cooled" mod that Ford built into their trucks.

sooo... the main culprit was the IDM.
i said screw it and slapped the 97 IDM in, she starts awesome now.
ill be buying a stock IDM soon,
as for the earlier IDM using different voltage.
i dont know but i hope it lasts until i get my new one lol

The voltages don't actually mean anything. Some believe so, but I had a very knowledgeable person tell me this.
