So, now that I got the 85 6.9 running good I'm trying to think of everything I need to fix that isn't critical but are still things I want to accomplish.
Today I screwed around for a long time getting a new reverse switch in the T19 and have reverse lights in the truck finally. I wired a toggle switch so I can turn on the regular reverse lights and the two custom led lights in the custom rear bumper on (I love anti-tailgating lights) and it was already on the truck so I'm using them lol. Had to replace the blower motor resistor as high or nothing wasn't very fun.
But there's some other stuff I cannot figure out. The dome light just doesn't work. I've replaced the bulb and wiggled it around, it won't turn on with the doors or the headlight switch. I want to send power to the wire that goes up there but according to google that wire is three different colors on an 85 so no idea what I'm honestly looking for there.
The head unit for the radio needs to go. I'd like to leave it original but the cassette player doesn't work so I can't play music from my phone. The radio seems like it's an awkward size. If anyone has ever swapped one out, did you have to get one of those weird plastic pieces with the slim empty piece under it so it all fits right? The speakers in the door are 6.5" too right?
The shifter for the T19 is a little wobbly side to side, are there bushings like in a zf5 or m5od that you can replace to tighten it up?
And lastly.. although not exactly related to a bullnose, this truck was not a factory ac truck. But someone didn't like that along the way at one point so they did something about it but they didn't do it right.. The truck has an ac bracket and a compressor that spins on it and also has a condenser in front of the radiator but that's all it has left. On the inside of the truck there are old controls under the dash. The previous owners got rid of "it" but I guess it was some smaller horizontal thing that sat under the dash mostly towards the passenger side that was hooked up to everything through the firewall in a custom hole that's not got a grommet closed off. I think it looked something like these that I just found online.
Except from 30 or so years ago. I'm assuming it would be a giant pain to ever hook anything back up to it, and at this point I should probably just take the compressor off to have more room in the engine bay and probably just leave the condenser as a shield for my radiator and use the windows. I'm guessing these things don't work well, are really expensive and hard to find and just not worth it.
At least I'm dealing with more fun items than an engine filling up with fuel in its oil lol..
