Actally the 352, 360, 361, 390, 391, 410,427, 427 SOHC and 428 or FE series uses a round bell housing pattern and it will NOT bolt to a 429/460 C6

The 351/400M 429/460 and Boss 429 engines are the only ones that will bolt to that Transmission.

I used to believe the 351C would bolt to that C6 but now I know it only bolts to a small block C6.

The 352, 360, 390, 427, 428 are FE series big blocks and and have totally different bolt patern than the 429, 460.

351c is a small block. Many think it is a big block but it is not. With a small block bolt patern.

351m and 400 are small block also with a (385 series) big block bolt patern (same as 429, 460) But these are small block engines.

Basically 429/460 and 351M/400.

There were also some limited production medium duty truck engines that used the same bolt pattern, but I see no advantage to using one of these in a light truck and they would be much more expensive than the standard 460 block.

If you are looking for a cheap motor to throw in the truck, 460 is the way to go. You "might" be able to pick up an old 351M/400 a little cheaper, but then you would have to fit that block to the rest of the truck.

351w is also a small block. We used to take cleavland heads move some water outlets and put them on a windsor block with a custom intake for stock car racing. That is basically the current NASCAR design just all aluminum and beefed up.

Maybe the question was misleading...
I have always heard, and referred to Ford big blocks as meaning the FE series--i.e. 332, 352, 390, 427.

There are other big blocks in the Ford inventory--429 and 260. They certainly qualify as Big Block engines, but when you ask for THE Ford big blocks, I think most people are going to think FE series. And they will not interchange with the 460 you have.
