My oil pressure guage fluctuates from the "O" or "R" on the "normal" part of the guage to the very low side of the "N" while driving. I dont know why it does it but im just curious what you guys think. Sending unit or pump? Truck runs great knock on wood, but i am just curious what u think

from 87 on the oil pressure sending unit is merely a switch that closes at 7 psi. all it tells you is that you have oil pressure. the gauge is designed to run halfish on the scale. some days mine runs on the "m"and other days on the "o", its just the gauge.

Ford apparently didn't know what a "gauge" was supposed to be for when they installed them in the dash. I guess they put them there for looks. The best thing you could do is add a aftermarket set.

Still baffles me why they did that. It couldnt have saved them any money....

even if it saved .20 cents....thats .20 over how many million units...you do a couple of those shortcuts and it adds up quick

I still dont see how it could save money though, I guess thats my point. You already have a gauge, you have a sensor, you have wiring, all they needed to do was wire it up so that the gauge actually moved with function, and thrown some numbers in the dash. Would have been nice.
