oil pressure gauge

I am thinking of gettin a sunpro oil gauge, first, do I need a mechanical or electrical (mechanical I'm guessin) and how/what/where do I plumb it to ?

I have used both types. The machanical never leaked or let me down. Now I have broken 2 electrical Isspro EV oil pressure gauges. I don't like the idea of hot oil being in the drivers area so maybe I need to rethink this electrical mess. I just don't like oil pressure in the passenger compartment area at all... Time to do the isolater setups...

so is it a good idea to hard line an oil pressure gauge and scavenge from her or is it better to go electrical? I just want an accurate reading other than the stock which I see can read as low as 7 psi and still be at the M in norMal

Ive got a mechanical sunpro because my stock gauge was going nuts. I just disconnected the stock sender and used its port for the sunpro. Its eventually going to get replace by a VDO electrical gauge but for now it works.

Mechanical with an isolater is the way I always set up mine. I went from where the stock sender is to an isolater that way all the oil stays under the hood. Then run a line from the isolater to the gauge. Fill that line will antifreeze. That way if you get a leak you just end up with a couple drops of antifreeze instead of a floor full of oil.

I'm with Gary on this. I never liked the idea of oil or coolant being plumbed into the cab. I think Travis has a bad oil leak in his cab once on the Enterprise, and that sealed the deal for me. I use an electrical Autometer pressure guage and I mounted it on the turbo's oil galley along with the stock sender. So far so good.

I run a mechanical gauge into the cab. I acutually have a mechanical water temp gauge in the cab as well. I ran 1/8 air fittings to the gauge, and put a tee fitting into the factory oil pressure dending unit behind the GP relay/controller. Works fine but watch where you run your line!!

I haven't ever had any problems with mechanical gauges...The way I see it, the electronics are going to fail before the mechanics...

Mechanical is pretty accurate and dependable, just make certain you use good tubing and take lots of care where you route everything as an oily mess inside your cab definitely sucks!
