Oil leaking from here. What is it how do you repair it?

This is my 95 PSD. On the oil pan is this:

This was taken from the passenger side looking up. There's what appears to be a sensor with a large sized, thin locking nut. Oil is coming down from here at a fairly quick pace. The nut was loose and I tightened it by hand, but that seemed to make it worse.
what is the sensor? Is there a seal there that might have failed? Should I just wrench the nut tight?

ive fixed them before, by driaining the oil out, then clean up the area as best ya can, then spreading the ford grey rtv over the area.
