oil leak from he!!

ok i bought a 1991 ford f250 ext cab 7.3 idi with a ats turbo and it leak oil like he!! well i need to figure it out but ill looked at the oil drain cause we thought it was comeing from there well well no oil where the turbo is bolted to the drain is there anyway it could blow out of the valley pan whole if not im suspecting the oil cooler cause theres oil all over the place there how do i know if that is bad

i agree with marble. get yourself a few cans of yellow easy off and dont be shy with it. then let it soak for a little while then hose it off

If it is leaking a ton of oil when running, it is likely a supply or return line, or something else with some oil pressure. Sure the valley pan can leak and it is prone to do so at the rear of the block. The rear deck where the valley pan and block meet is narrow and a common place for oil to leak down the back of the engine, but not usually in huge volumes. Look for a hole/crack in the turbo oil supply line, the turbo's oil galley, the turbo's oil return, and the oil pressure sending unit. The oil cooler can leak pretty good as well, but it is not hard to find, as the oil all leaks from the lower driver's side of the engine (where the oil cooler is located).

i've got one ***** of an oil leak myself, and i cannot isolate it.

it looks like its coming from the front main, but the back of the crank pulley is bone dry. its all over the lift pump and surrounding areas. i just changed the valve cover gaskets and rebuilt the oil cooler and it still leaves 1 inch spot of oil when its parked.

the lift pump only has about 5k miles on it. is there anyway for engine oil to leak out of that thing, i read there is a weep hole, but would assume that is for fuel not oil. the gasket where it mates to the block does not appear to be the leak point.

this weekend i'm going to soak it down with gunk or oven cleaner and take the pressure washer to it.

my worst fear is that its the oil pan gasket. i don't see how i could reseal that thing with taking out the engine. anyone ever tried that? i also read never to use a gasket on the pan, should use RTV.

well i think i fingerd out the issue my buddy that owned it before me him and our freind that has his own performance shop put the turbo on here the breahter hole wasnt big enough and they had a little tiny breather set up on it so i opend it up didnt get to run it yet im waitin till i have my oil gauge and my engine temp gauge set up but now i gota finger out where im guna tap in for an oil pressure hose

What do you mean by breather? The CDR or crankcase ventilation? If that was insufficient it certainly could cause a nasty oil leak, the other likely possibility is that some people have installed turbos with the old valley pans and haven't punched extr holes into the baffle where the turbo pedestal (or CDR on an N/A engine) plugs into. You said that area where the drainback happens was dry though so if that's the case I wouldn't think it could be the not enough drainback issue. Like the others said I'd also have a really close look at the oil supply and return lines. I think it was the stock line from ATS that tended to leak, but others could leak as well.

i meant the breather that you have to put in the valve cover they had a little half inch hole drilled with a shity little filter shoved in the hole and the filter had a little hole up to the actual filter and the hole wasnt even big enough to shove a pencil through
