I don't measure quarts or anything like that.
What I do is fill my filter to the top. and install it ith a LIGHT coat on the gasket.
Then I take the 20 L pail (5 gallon bucket) and start pouring it in. Once I reach the FULL mark on my stick, I fire the truck up and run it a couple minutes. Shut it down, and clean up your tools. Put them away and give the oil a chance to filter back down to your oil pan.
Check the stick again and add a little if needed.
Your oil filter will hold a little oil from the pan as it will have air in it. Once it is run the first time it will take a little extra to fill it and all the oil passages that hold oil when the engine is off. This is normal.
Now, with that said. You might not be able to keep it on the full mark. I kow if I fill mine to the full mark and drive it, i willgo down one quart in about 500 miles...and stay there. It don' usually go any lower, but if I add that quart again it will blow it out or burn it off. Yours might do this, or it might be fine.
