Oil feed line

I think I have narrowed down a couple of my leaks. I think that one of them is my oil feed line to the turbo. Is the factory line a hard line or a soft black rubber line? Mine is a black rubber line and after inspecting it closer it looks kinda home made. Not really sure though. At any rate I need to get a new one I think and see if that does anything.

Mine is a hard line also. I don't know though if it goes to rubber after it goes down behind the engine. Knock of wood I haven't had to mess with it back there. But at the turbo it is a hard line.

Mine is rubber all the way. I think its cracked where the fittings are crimped on. The guy I bought the truck off of was a diesel mechanic but from a lot of things I have found not a very good one.

You can make one up any way you like. Replacing it with Aeroquip hose and fittings will give you a good strong hose and leak free fittings that are easy to remove and replace when needed .

Jegs or Summit have them as do some parts stores. Mine is braided stainless, but it's not on the truck, just what came with the turbo.

As mentioned or local speed shop. or you could go to a hose shop and get JIC fittings and oil rated hose a bit cheaper, but you don't get the steel braid which is good protection against abraision
If running a hose anyplace too close to exhaust parts remember to run it through a piece of firesleeve. Most parts stores are carrying the stuff now about a 3 ft chunk will run you around $14

My ATS came with braided stainless also. I imagine ATS would sell direct replacements, may be a little pricey, but fit should be guarenteed. Also I believe there is a 90 degree fitting that threads into the block. Mine started to leak there. While yours is apart, you may want to unscrew the 90, clean threads, apply new thread sealant, and reinstall.

could a guy just use the JIC fittings and hydraulic hose? we use hydraulic hose for lots of stuff. coolant, oil, hydraulics. its very tough hose and takes heat well also. constructed of rubber on stainless flex on top of rubber. fittings are crimped also.....

You can use the JIC fittings, but you want to make sure you are using an oil rated hose. Most hydraulic hose is oil rated. You don't have to go with the crimp on fittings, they make reusable fittings for JIC fittings as well, just have to make sure the hose you get is compatible with reusable fittings. Go to a good hose shop and they should be able to fix you up. It's about 1/3 the cost of the aeroquip stuff
