No clutch startup?

How can I disable the safety switch on the clutch so I can start the truck without pushing the clutch (ZF5)?

I unplugged the neutral safety switch...yanked it out of the truck...pulled the spring out that's in there slid the little slider thing to where it needed to be and superglued it then plugged it back in and stuffed it under the dash...been working like that for around 8 months....

theres 4 wires 2 are a little bigger then the other 2 so connect the 2 big ones and 2 little ones. If you can't tell a size difference the wires are in order 1234 connect 1 and 2 then connect 3 and 4

Sounds like you're talkin about an auto tranny, never known of a neutral safety switch on my ZF.


What I did was take the little switch that mounts to the clutch pedal under the dash off, unplug it and chunk it, then run a jumper wire across the plug. I cannot remember how many wires their are but it seems like there were 3, I jumped only two of the wires and made it work... either way I used an ohm meter and the switch and messed with it for a minute or so to figure out which wires became a complete circuit when the switch was tripped (clutch pedal depressed) then shoved some wire into the plug to mimic the pedal being depressed all the time; wrapped the **** out of it with electrical tape and it's worked ever since.

Nah, I'm talking about a ZF.....maybe it's called something else but I call it the nuetral safety switch.

I wouldn't recommend defeating both pairs of wires. One pair is for your cruise control. The ones you want to defeat, I'm pretty sure are the leftmost pair. Just slip the equivelent of a paper clip in that pair from the backside of the connector, and you will defeat the starter interlock. That switch is a double pole single throw normally open switch. Completing the circuit allows the starter to be energized.
