It can, if you swap the radiator support too. It has a deeper lower hoop to clear the radiator. Your truck, because it was originally a gasser, probably doesn't have the deep core support, which is why the wide, short radiator was used.
I dont really want to mess with radiator support and then a new shroud. I bought the current one from 1800Radiator in 2009, they are warrantying the seeping upper tank. That is better than I could have hoped for.
You are right it is rare. When I did my swap from 460 I left that radiator in and it was fine running empty. With any load it would get way to hot quick. That is when I found the non AC rad and used it.
My 85 has dealer installed AC and the wide radiator. Id love to switch to the AC one if i had the pieces available but ill probably just buy another off rock auto.
