My brother just bought an 86 6.9L F-250. He needs to get an overdrive unit for it, but has no idea where to get one from or how much they cost. Can anyone point me in the right direction? How is installation?

Wow, they're pricey. I had no idea they'd cost that much money. Plus installation. I guess this isn't happening. Thanks for the help!

Don't give up that easy. You just have to keep your eyes open on fleabay. Installation is something you can do youself easily.

What gears does the truck have? Lots of trucks have 4.11 gears for heavy hauling but is a waste for most driving conditions.

A swap to a axle with higher gearing is relatively cheap and easy.
