"timing cover" leak is oil? Could be the LPOP leaking and running down to the cover.

I thought it was actually in the pan. Lol
But I was thinking the same.

nope.
its on the crank, one of those centrifugal gear designs. inbetween the crank gear and the harmonic balancer.
the pan is nothing more than a pick up.
its not a conventional oil pump.

Espensive. On the bottom of the timing cover there seems to be a break in the gasket and that's where I thought it was coming from. I'll take a picture .
And on another note, I have seats somebody took out if like a ford minivan, very uncomfortable and they don't adjust, so I want to do the super duty seat swap, doesn't look to hard but my problem is finding the seats in the first place, finding the right color, and not paying an arm and leg.

And anyone have a part # on the oil cooler kit. Most of the parts are the same except for the gasket that goes from the oil filter assembly to the block. And I don't exactly want to take it apart and drain everything before getting the parts.

And one more question. This has confused me for a bit. So was there a change in the 7.3 powerstroke engine in 1997? That is in all new body style 7.3s and the last year of the OBS that the 1994-1996 OBS Powerstrokes don't share? Because some parts for example say 1994-1996 only and others say 1997-2003. I t has me a little confised

97 should still be the same. But yes some parts are different. I know the hpop is slightly different. A few sensors, etc.

the blocks are identical, head casting numbers are the same. from the 01 vs the 97
hpop looks to be the same from the 96 vs the 97 i have.

i have not cracked the dog house open on my 98.

biggest difference is the 99-99.5 when they went to a different Hpop
upgraded turbo, 1 connector UVCH

in 2001ish they changed from forged rods to powder crush rods

There was so many half year changes from 94 to 99.5. I always specify 2000 for any 99.5 parts. If I said 99, sure enough I'd get the wrong part most of the time.
