I just got an 85 f350 with the 6.9l.
I'm new to diesel pickups but definitely not new to diesel trucks. I'm a 3rd generation truck driver who also started as a mechanic for a Peterbilt dealership before I was old enough to drive big trucks.
I don't claim all knowledge infact I'm a greenhorn in many ways, but am also far from not knowing anything about diesel engines.
I am now enjoying fixing this truck up and plan on doing some traveling in it with a 5th wheel behind it.
