So I'm at the point where I'm ready to pull the heads and I have the 1 ton Harbor Freight cherry picker but the arm doesn't extend out far enough to get a good vertical lift on the heads. It appears that going in from the side after removing the wheel will be the best option to get a semi-vertical lift. The driver side looks like I'd have to do the same. Am I way wrong here or am I close? I've obviously never done this before and don't want to screw things up when I'm so close to the finish.

Edit: I've already messed up my back once so muscling these things out ain't an option.

When I did my heads in chassis I used the 2 ton harbor freight cherry picker with good success. Hope your back gets better soon.

Got 'er done. The 1 ton worked fine after removing the wheel and going from the side, but it was a close fit to center the lifting eye over the cylinder head. The ol' back was a little talkative after removing all the headbolts.
