i've been going through the exact same thing all weekend. killed the batts twice on saterday and once today. still nothing. i can't even get air at the shrader. o yea don't put air pressure to the fuel tank. the filler cap is NOT sealed for pressure.

please post if you figure something out. i'm buying an electric pump and a transfer tank. this where is the fuel coming from? is the pump working? crap has got to stop.

I just rigged up a temporary setup with an E pump .. It's feeding straight into the filter head . Now , do I still need to crank the engine over to clear the injector lines ? I'm thinking I do, but not sure .. I just tried Cranking it with the IP on and w/o , with the E pump running and the hard lines cracked .. still don't have fuel to the injectors. Should I just keep at it until I see fuel ? It honestly sounds like its just pumping it through the return lines and not through the IP and injector lines ..

the metal lines yes you need to crank it over to fill them up, same for the IP

Yes, The IP is not going to draw any fuel unless the fuel shut off solenoid is operating and the engine is cranking over.

Jumping the fuel shutoff solenoid and running the electric pump will force fuel out the top return line on the pump per Mel. Now to clear the hard injector lines you must be cranking the engine and make sure you hold the throttle wide open. These engines sip a very small amount of fuel at idle or cranking speed. If your batteries are down and the starter is cranking slowly stop before you burn up the starter. As voltage drops the amps go up. Then the smoke gets let out of the windings in the starter.. Thats a bad smelly you just did right there. Nothing to be proud of either.... A tight fuel system is a gaurnted fast start engine. Couple that with a gear reduction starter and wow is it turning over fast. You wont be able to count the rpms thats for sure..

When I changed my IP a few months ago; I ran the electric pump for about a minute, then cracked all of the injector lines loose at the tops of the injectors. Held the throttle wide open and cranked it for about 10 seconds, tightened the 2 lines that started weeping, another 5 seconds of cranking, tightened up 2 more that had started weeping. Then I cycled the glow plugs and it cranked for about 5 seconds (with the throttle wide open still), then came to life. Ran rough, and puked smoke for a few minutes, but it then smoothed out and ran fine.

How long are you guys able to crank yours for until the batts are too low ? I usually only get about 15 seconds of crank time before it starts to spin slowly. Then I have to wait an hour for it to charge lol .

I can crank on mine in 20 second bursts about 5 times before it starts to slow down (with a minute wait in between each burst).
That's with 2 fresh stud top group 31's; Same batteries used in a semi truck.
