A fuel can, a 3/8 ruubber hose and a 3/8 fuel barb to screw into the filter inlet where the fuel pump line attaches is all you need for the gravity system.

Just something to think about.

I'm currently trying the gravity feed method . I found my temporary return line ( I had to use a random hose for the return Line section that I forgot about ) had cracks in it .. Not sure if that makes a difference. It is frustrating to see the 1 gallon jug the return is dumping into almost full and still no fuel through the injector lines ...

What do you guys think about hooking the E pump to the hard line running to the IP , bypassing the fuel head ... this way it would pump straight to the IP . The E pump has a small filter on it .

Speaking of the IP , is it possible that its frozen or something and not letting fuel through ? It has sat for about a year .

I am no expert, but I would not bypass the filter, if you get something in your IP it would have to be rebuilt. I have been reading your thread and thinking that your (New) IP may be bad, more testing will figure this out.

Sorry , I didn't mean to imply that it was new . It was working when I tore the engine apart , but it isn't brand new .

Well , I didn't rule it out officially , but I am getting fuel to the IP inlet . I just had a thought... What about turning the IP all the way up temporarily ? Would it make that much of a difference? Should I be hearing hissing at least at the injector lines? I don't hear anything..

Ok , I ruled out a clogged filter . I tossed a new Motorcraft filter on , filling it with diesel before installing , and nothing changed . What do you guys think about maxing out the IP .screw ?

I am getting fuel to the IP inlet , a lot of fuel through the return lines , and nothing at the hard lines . Maybe I should remove the IP top cover and fill it with diesel .. ?

I took the top off my IP and filled it with diesel and it helped the process a lot. My problem turned out to be the IP shutoff valve was bad and not opening up at all, and a clog in the fuel tank pickup/sending unit.

... And I also got flamed pretty hard in the thread I had about bleeding out a dry fuel system.

How did you determine it was the fuel shut off valve ? I have a feeling I am having the same problem .. I am hesitant putting my spare IP on because the fuel-out ends were never capped .. I'd hate to pump dirt into my new injectors.. I think my IP has fuel in it as I get fuel out of the return line elbow on top of the IP . With the IP full of diesel , and no fuel or air through the lines , it makes me think the IP is having issues, possibly the same as yours .

I jumped it with a power wire and it didn't click open. So I took it off and grounded it and tried it again do I could see if it would do anything, and it didn't. I ended up just swapping the top of the ip with a known good one, and filled the ip with fuel. One cycle of the glow plugs after I did that and she fired right up.

I still think you need to do some more testing:
1) Do you get fuel out the front of the IP with the hard line there removed?(with epump running)

2) There is a screen filter where you removed the hard line from the IP, its a PITA to get to, is it clogged?

I am just thinking out loud, others here know far more than I do. To me, if you have fuel at the IP inlet and not at your injectors, you problem is in-between, test each step in-between.

If you are thinking about taking off the top cover of the IP, be warned not to disturbe anything in there while you have it off and get it back on exactly the same way, re:eek:ut of control overreving until engine is junk.
