My OB community timing meter idea!

I guess I'm being misunderstood. yes, a list of IDI friendly shops would be nice. However the point I was trying to make is lets have people help people. Rather than rent out a tool and risk losing something, a guy could say,"Hey im in Phx, if you need timing call me at (999)666-6666 slide me 50 bucks to help pay for my tool and I will help you adjust timing" I dont know about you guys but I dont like the idea of mailing my tool across the country so some guys can use it for a couple of hours then send it back to me when he get around to it. I would rather meet up with someone, help them then visit a little bit, isnt that what Oilburners about?

This is what I have been about for years. I don't even collect the $50, which by now would have netted me a handsome nestegg. Right now there is a local guy who wants me to time his 7.3 IDI and his 6.2 GM, and I've been having problems finding a time slot to do it in. He needs it for his business, but I've been too busy. Makes me sad I can't get to him soon enough.

I think the shop I had mine "timed" at has recently become too big now and I don't think the owner (who is an amazing mechanic imo) is making the calls or doing all of the work himself anymore which is a shame

My friend tried to buy Beru's there as I did several months earlier and the bean counter behind the desk said they don't sell Beru's anymore because all they are is a re-labeled Bosch plug They only sell Bosch plugs now. Another friend tried to get his truck timed there and they said they don't work on 6.2's at all anymore I hate it when people sell out back in the day his shop was full of work trucks of all makes and trailer pullers now all I see is blinged out 20's, 16" lifts and 8" stacks on brand new trucks parked out front.

After all this I went to a new shop in town here in No. Utah to see if they had a meter I could borrow or watch them time my truck with... He said meters are a thing of the past and a good mechanic can do it by ear! All they do is just "reach on in there and TUURN IT UUUUPPPP" "just reach on in there and turn the pump all the way towards the passenger fender" dead serious! ***?


Anyway in case anyone in Northern Utah was wondering: No there isn't anyone that can help you with timing an IDI

You need to grab that owner and that bean counter. Get two batteries. On one, rig up a bosch glow plug, on the other a Beru. Show them what happens.

Thanks for doing the research, once I get my Moose pump back and fresh BB's I need to figure something out for timing...Did you happen to check with Gillette or Industrial Injection?

Ultimately I would like to have my own meter to compensate for pump wear and watch timing drift...
