My "New" Airtex fuel pump...... A question

honestly as long as its running fine and not loosing power i wouldnt worry about it.

but this is the regulator that came with my fuel system from BDP.only issue ive had with it is the liquid leaked out of the gauge somehow

Interesting... That's a lot like the regulators I used. They were also boost referenced.. It worked, well almost!

BTW: The second regulator's gauge sprung a leak on me.. It totally hosed down the engine compartment with fuel. I've heard from several guys, that having a gauge under the hood, is a bad idea.. They just can't stand up to the conditions under the hood.

ive had mine on for 5~6 years with no fuel leak from the gauge.just the liquid leaked out of it.

I did a little research and found that it works on boost also. For each pound of boost, it raises the fuel pressure one pound....

I'm getting ready to test drive the truck and hopefully be able to tow the 5er to get some work done on it...

you dont need that on a diesel though.the pcm uses the map sensor for the boost reference and changes the pulse width to add more fuel or cut back the fuel wich is why the 99-03s defuel under high boost.the psd is perfectly happy with 65PSI at idle.the pcm will take care of the rest.id suggest maybe try the regulator again without hooking that line up.

Finally figured out and it wasn't the pump, or the regulator. I replaced everything from the tank to the heads, with the exception of the fuel bowl. Since the regulator had a plugged port readily available, I put a barbed fitting in it and Tee'd off the supply line from the pump. I now have 55PSI at idle and no less than 45PSI at WOT (On my 80hp tune) I haven't tried it with the stock tune yet..

I have an upgrade planned, for the supply lines to the heads.. I used 1/4" steel line originally and plan on upgrading to 5/16" and deleting the fuel bowl. Depending on how things go in the winter, I may add a 12V fuel heater.
