My engine is finally back from the machine shop

Well I picked my engine up from the machine shop today. I had all eight cylinders sleeved and bored to stock. I have new pistons and rings. Installed all new cam bearings, main bearings and rod bearings. I had a valve job done on both heads and had to replace three intake valves. I also have a new carter fuel pump to install. I will be installing the tins the first of the week and hope to have it running by the end of next week. If you guys see any thing I need to check let me know.

Just a thought, but next time I do heads on a 7.3, I will be putting the old style 6.9 valve seals on them to allow for a bit of oil to get by the seals and lube the guides. I feel that the 7.3 seals are too tight, they did this for emissions reasons when the went from 6.9 to 7.3 but we also see more valve guide issues with 7.3's over 6.9's. Or I do anyways.

Just a thought....might be worth considering with all the effort put into that motor which should last you a long time now

I never knew that about the valve seals. It amazes my all of the little differences in these engines.

I have new bb's and I have the pump turned up two flats. I am going to seal the exhaust pipes really well hoping to gain a few more psi of boost. I would love to have an upgraded turbo outlet and a 3" down pipe but the funds are a little low after all this work.

There is a place in the Dallas area called trinity casting service that comes highly recommended that I will be contacting. By the way, it sure looks nice clean and shiny. No no, everything is fine. I'm going to sleeve it for a hot spare. For the next few years I'm going to be doing a lot of heave towing and if anything happens I don't want to be shut down for long and know that I'm back up and running with out issue.

The sleeve work was $125 per hole but because I had them all sleeved he knocked a $100 dollars of and it cost $900.

That's in the range I'm hoping for. I plan on doing the whole bloke also. Did you open up the water passages in the head and block that have plugs in them?

The machine shop removed all of the factory plugs I believe. They all have fresh loctite on them.

I am not sure about the sleeves the machine shop ordered them but I only seen signs for melling in his shop. The shop I used was Davis machine shop in Paris.
