ok this thing has been nothing but a nightmare.as yall know i had it rebuilt by a reputable tranny shop that i have been useing for the last 6 years without problem.

well first rebuild i didnt like the way it shifted.way too soft, couldnt feel the shifts.had shift kit installed.shifts were perfect except for the overdrive shift.felt like getting rearended when it hit over drive.towed my suburban to my parents house.tried to climb a hill.tranny wouldnt down shift out of overdrive or unlock the converter.dogged me down to 5 mph before it decided to down shift.tranny temp at 320 and makeing some noises with blinking OD light.well tranny shop looked at it a few times found no problems.said to replace the converter, filter and fluid.

well went to swap the converter and found stripped bolts in the valve body.well took it back they rebuilt it again and fixed the stripped holes.now it wouldnt shift into 2nd till it hit 3000RPM -cuss -cuss -cuss .couldnt find nothing wrong again.

now they went and got another tranny for a core to rebuild.said mine had a cracked case.so i stick this tranny in and now when i put it in gear other then park or neutral it stalls like a standard!!-cuss -cuss -cuss -cuss -cuss no codes present.trouble shooter in my scanner says bad solenoids.this tranny supposedly came out of a running/driving truck that was wrecked but he rebuilt it cuz thats what i payed for in the beginning.

what could be the problem now?why am i haveing all these issues?im almost to the point that im just gonna scrap this truck.heads are gonna be rolling if i have to drop this tranny again!!!

I'm amazed that the E4DOA lasted this long in your rig. I've never had luck with them in my two wreckers. imho F450's should only have ZF5's in them.
BTW..... GV's can be had in a F450 but it is pricey. One of the carrier bearings is substituted with a GV.

It sounds like somthing outside of the transmission. I thought mine was possessed by demons, rebuilt tranny replaced speed and tach sensors and still had random seemingly unrelated problems. I changed the instrument cluster and everything has been fine since. My understanding is that the instrument cluster is often the culprit for undiagnosable problems in these trucks.

every electrical part of the tranny system was fine before the tranny died.and when it died i just lost all forward gears.every time we do something to it it ends up with a different problem.

The stalling can be caused by a lockup converter that does not "unlock". We have had to change out several of them cars and a few trucks that acted like you were trying to stop a manual trans car without pushing in the clutch...sounds strange, but I wonder if the new converter might be the culprit on this?

Rich,

Check the solenoid pack. Check the harness for damage. The other cause could be the converter clutch control valve is dirty or stuck.

If the truck stalls out in reverse, the problem is a leaking front pump. Reason is that the TCC lockup is hydraulically locked out in reverse, so it cannot lockup due to electrical problems. The front pump leaks pressure directly into the TCC apply circuit.

I think if I were having repeated problems I'd go with a Baumanater to completely replace the factory electronics.

Your kinda far away but these guys do really good work,

www.jensenspowertrain.com

I installed a 4100R last week in an F550 4x4 that they rebuilt, worked A-1 out of the crate. The price was really reasonable too. I'll let them build me a tranny when my E4OD blows up.
