Well, when mine was leaking it just left a trail of coke between the back of the exhaust turbine and the pedistal, thats what tipped me off that there was a problem, the coke had the turbine wheel in a bind and my turbo wouldnt spool.

No, unfortunately I had to remove the turbo to find it, I dont recall having a huge oil consumption problem but I didnt drive it many miles and I knew that there was something drastically wrong, mileage and performance were significantly affected due to the turbo not spooling.RenoF250 said:
Something you can do is pull your intake boot and grab the compressor wheel and check it for endpaly and roll the turbo to see if it rolls smooth by hand. That was what tipped me off, I couldnt roll the wheel by hand.
