I finally got my keyless remote equipment to work. Funny how a working keyfob can make the door locks work. I had a bad keyfob that wouldn't send a signal. Now I need to work on remote start. Anyone know of a terminal where as a signal that the engine is running is at? In other words, I need something to tell my timer that the engine is running so that it does not continue to grind starter.

what brand remote starter are you using?

mine is tagged onto the tach sender. it will learn what operating signal is. atleast both my viper and ultra start are the same way

Sorry for taking ao long to get back. I have the factory RKE. The keyfob has a trunk release button that i am planning on using. I plan on using the lead for the trunk release from the module the trip a few timers and relay. The circuit I will build needs a signal that the engine is running and disengages the starter. It will also get an input from the wait to start light and have a timer so that it will shut down engine after 10 minutes. Yeah I can go out and buy a ready made unit but I can build one cheaper and still use the factory keyfob.

you might be able to pull the instrument cluster and check what the voltage is directly on the tach pins when engine is at idle. another thought is making a switch off the alternator when running should be around 14.4-15.o volts. with the right resistors you could close the circuit when it hits that voltage. Simpler yet, install a pressure (vacuum) switch right off the main vacuum rail. with a good working vacuum pump you could get a switch that shuts off at around 10hg. I know of a couple that are adjustable from -5hg. to -25hg. are you going to install a small servo instead of the factory high idle solenod for cold starts. or dont you think that will be an issue? i know on my truck i have to depress the pedal to lock in the high idle. mopar sells a cheap throttle advance servo that is plenty powerful enough to move the throttle up a little. I used one off of a 1989 dodge dakota i think it was a 3.9 lter v6 engine.

fabbing one of these up is not only cheaper but much funner too........
