Alright, since I have nothing else to do today....I finally want to install my G code injectors. Whats all involved? I mean I got the injectors, and the copper o rings, and these little black plastic things with two male end adaptors on them.

So, I pull out the old injectors, being careful not to mess up the rubber lines in between the injectors. Then pull out the old injectors, and take out the copper o-rings. Then I guess throw in the G codes, doing the oposite as taking out the old injectors :dunno . Then put the lines back on them, but no tighten it down. Then after I get them all installed, start cranking it over, and tighten the lines when fuel starts coming out.

Do I need to adjust the timing when I do this? If so, how, which way do I turn the pump?

Sounds like you got the idea. Timing will be different due to the higher pop pressure of the G's. Not sure if it'll make a difference though.

Justin you've got it man. The best advice KI can give you is to be careful not to bend your injection lines too much when you pull the old injectors out. You'll invariably bend them somewhat so it follows that you should be especially careful when reattaching the lines not to crossthread the injectors, dont't force. Don't let any crap fall into the injector holes when you have them out, some would say they need a thorough cleaning but I'd suggest as clean as you can get it with a clean paper towel and shop vac is plenty clean enough unless those bores are really nasty. On the timing I'd leave it and see where you are with it, if you're not happy with it I don't know if Russ or any of these other guys in your area have the timing tools, but It really should be timed with tools.... my 2 bits

The torque is 35 lbs... Keeping it clean as posted is important. Use the two new o-rings and install the first one in the top groove. Then roll the lower one over the top one. use a good grease. Some like KY... Others like vasoline....:D Its really up to you. Don't do it dry.... Clean working are is really important.;Really

Make sure you don't overtorque the injectors..

Check your nozzles for looseness. I bought a new set of Stanadyne G codes only to find one (or more) had not been assembled correctly. The nozzle was loose making the injector stay open all the time. Really ruined my day to pay top dollar for garbage.

Well all of the G codes are in.....but I've hit a big snag. It looks like the injectors were replaced, and the guy who did them decided to cross thread two of them, so I am having difficulty putting those lines on the G codes.....I have no idea what to do. I'll keep trying, but my injectors look like they are starting to get cross threaded . My truck runs kinda funky on 6 cylinders, kinda like a gasser with a huge cam LOL

I've used KY. OK well the generic stuff. It's quite a bit more slippery than "petroleum jelly". I've had some caps that just tore the heck out of O rings with the PJ.

You should stop and go to a junkyard tomorrow and get replacement lines from a core motor.

Well all, I've kept my cool through this LOL. Anyways I'm what I would like to call F'd in the A.....I'm in a bad way for sure :D. So I went and rested a little bit, took a nap, and decided it was time to go back out there and finish up. Well, not to my suprise cause I did prepare myself for the worse......my two G code injectors were stripped like a mother....I mean bad. So I tried as best as I could to fix it, get the lines on right, and hopefully strip the threads back into the right position. Anyways, I ended up making things worse, and at that point I was like F it, I'm going for it. I went and tightened down the suckers are much as I could, but I could tell they werent as low as all the other lines on the injectors. Well I start it up, it idle's a little better, still seems like it has a big cam in it though. I get out, sure enough fuel is coming from the bottom of the injector lines. So I went at it again, tightened those suckers down even more. Fixed it for a while, but they started leaking again. At this point, I was way past the point of no return, so I again tightened them down more (got to the point where I couldnt turn the wrench anymore), and yet they still werent on all the way. Started it up, leaks were better, but still leaking. Went to the shop got some RVT......the cap was off....so most of it was dry, I cut the container in half and had enough RVT to just engulf the injetor in....stopped the leak, though I knew it needed more, cause I didnt really get it all the way around.

So what started out as good intentions has cost me a couple hundred bucks. I'm kinda like oh well....chit happens......its not like my life has been peachy lately.

Anyways, for the test drive. I pull out of our driveway, 1/3 throttle cause I wasnt even close to temp (water temp wasnt even regestering on my ISSPRO 100-240* gauge. Went into 2nd gear, and holy crap I heard a sound that scared the hell out of me. I could hear one cylinder miss firing real bad, I mean real fricking loud. I was like oh chit I dont wanna mess anything up, so I was looking for a good place to turn around. I got into 3rd gear, and it went away, so I was relieved. And much to my suprise acceleration at that throttle input was better than with my BB codes (both with the high idle going). It felt better with the G codes. So I kept on driving, everything seemed fine, I stopped a couple miles down the road, and sure enough those 2 injectors are leaking pretty good. Oh well, I'll have to go find some more RVT :D. Anyways I kept driving, went WOT....at operating temp....felt a little stronger, not much....but my truck was much quieter so I think its running a little more retarted than before. It could all be a plasebo affect, cause it wasnt like crazy, cut 0-60 times by a second, it would be more of like 1/2 a second at the most...but it felt a little stronger. Well my leaks worsened, my big cammed motor at idle came back.

These were used injectors though.....but still seemed like a little bit of a performance gain.

But since I *****'ed 2 of them, I'm up a creek without a paddle so to speak. I need a link to that one site that has new injector lines......need them for number 3 and 7 cylinders. I'm going to just rebuild my BB codes, cause I honestly didnt think wow I'm glad I did the G code injector swap LOL. Maybe if I didnt mess up those injectors, and they werent leaking, all would be good, and I would advance the timing a little bit, but since I screwed them up oh well. I'll just have my BB codes spray tested, if they pass, I'll have them rebuilt, buy those injector lines (dont have time to go to a wrecking yard anymore). Hopefully I will find a good injection shop that will rebuild them good with a higher pop off rating, cause I think thats were the advantage is at for the G codes, at least it felt like it.

They didnt seem much like an emmisions injector, they put out just as much smoke as my BB codes ;Sweet

Accelerating up a long hill neted me a 1mph increase, but there are to many variables to say that that is what they would do.

Oh well LOL.

I'm my opinion, G codes are worth it if you dont mess them up and advance the timing a little.....cause with the high idle on it felt real good, and sounded like my truck does with the BB codes with the high idle off. But I dont have the money for new G codes, so I'll just referbish what I got and hopefully increase the pop off rating some (can that be done? Put G code springs inside of BB code injectors?).

Russ you got any good connections on injection shops that could do this for me?

I guess I should also add how I'm going to operate like this. Since I have decided that I wont reuse those injectors, or injector lines....I'm just going to take RVT and slobber the hell out of them...I mean put it on thick....hopefully that will cease any external fuel leaks...its not like my motor is running real rough or anything.

No amount of RTV will stop the leak if its coming from the high pressure side of the injectors... Try this. Remove the buggered injectors and change the bottom sections with the top body of the injectors you pulled out. I really dought the injector bodys are differant from G to any other code. Now the spring and internals are differant between injector codes. When you try to replace those lines please remove the line dampners BEFROE you try to tighten them to the injectors. They should turn by hand all the way down. Don't give up so easy. We will get you running correctly. I have cross threaded injector lines before yoo. Its no fun I know.... Funny how I can machine almost anything but try to thread something as simple as an injector line....:dunno
