In line fuel heater, filtration question

My truck has a 7.3 IDI

I am looking into a WVO setup, I have an idea for a filtration set up with sock filters going down to 1micron (is this excessive?)

I was curious how necessary an in line heater was to reduce viscosity, and what products were worth recommending, as well as any diy options?

I use a VW motor oil heater, plumbed in to the coolant hoses, firewall mounted using an oil filter, ph8a equivalent. They came with the turbo 1.6 and 1.9 mechanical diesels
