That my AC has a leak. I'm thinking the compressor as the front (where the clutch is) is all oily. Went to a co-workers house and drew down the system. Had to leave as he had to go, so I drove back home, and started filling it up.

First thing I noticed, no refrigerant wanted to go in. Was having a super hard time getting the thing to accept refrigerant. But just a couple minutes ago I got it to where the evap was icing up when the pump kicked on (well the pump would kick on, then off, and about a sec later ice would form).

I'm planning on pickup up a manifold gauge set as I really need to know when its kicking on and off.

I adjusted the do-hicky screw that adjusts the pressure. I had it to where it would either switch off and on every other second, or if I turned it enough, it would hold it on for a fairly long time, and the evap would ice. Do I need to let some R134a out, and adjust it to where it holds it on longer? If I do that now it will just ice up.

I got to say the single hands down best thing i ever fixed on my truck was the airconditioner, i LOVE it! I replaced every o-ring before i even attempted to put anything in mine then i put 2 3oz cans of oil and about 3 1/2 cans of r134a and it blows nice and cold, it would be better if my blower fan blew faster

first thing you need to do is unplug you pressure switch and the short out the plug that you unplugged with a piece of wire. That will make your compressor run all the time. Which will make the refrigerant go in much faster. does the filler hose you have have a gauge on it? If it does, fill it to where it holds a steady 35# to 40#. What do-hicky screw were you adjusting?

If it's icing, it's kicking out at too low a pressure and it may not be fully charged yet. Not knowing the complete circumstances, it's hard for me to say with complete certainty, but what are teh duct temps? you should be shooting for 33 deg duct temps. It sounds like either it needs more refrigerant or it needs the screw adjusted to get the cutout pressure up above 19 psi at the very least. Really need to get a set of gauges on there to see what is going on
