I thought you turned the fuel pump somewhere?

Turning up the fuel and timing the engine are two different things. I don't reccomend playing with the fuel delivery (turning up the pump) unless you have a pyro gauge to monitor what is going on. The gears on the front of the engine have timing marks for timing the engine.. Timing the IP to the engine is another process that requires a timing meter. What is happening that you are wanting to time the engine/turn up fuel? :dunno

well the truck has not been started in several months, and the person whom i purchased it from told me it was out of time a little bit, so my buddy said even if it was out of time it should still try to start so for about several hours we tried to start it and nothing happened so someone told me to put a little bit of starting fluid in the air breather so just one squirt and she wanted to start and when that happened a whole crap load of white smoke came rollin out of the tail pipe, does that mean the timing is retarded or just because it hasn't been ran in a while?

Are the glowpulgs working? If not, and the timing is off, it will be a bear to start. I know mine wont start even in the summer without a 5 sec blast of GP's. There might also be a fuel delivery problem.

Here's a site for some diagnostic help:here

water separator may be letting air in the system. It should start and run with ether. You need to really climb around the truck a lot , then come ask questions.

oh trust me, I've been under that darn thing for days, now I have to spend another 10$ on 2 more expansion plugs because I don't know if the one I have to replace is 1 inch or 1/2 inch. and I called Burchett Ford and they told me 1 inch 1/2 and thats what I got and it was too big! so don't tell me to climb around the truck and ask questions!!!!

I had the water separator malfunction the first time I emptied the water.
The truck would NOT start, until I bypassed that POS.

Good luck

Also check the fuel selector, mine was stuck, till I worked it a few times.

Please don't take offence to the answers you get, the questions (to some) seem to be repeats of posts gone by.

LCjeff

PS check my sig.
