If you wanted to rebuild a 7.3 idi, increase it's performance w/o a turbo, what would you do?

Curious, and for the search engine....
Did someone pick up on the cam grind Russ ( type4 cam ) was having made?

Are they still available new?

I'm pretty sure that someone on here said that Oregon Cam (or something like that) took it over. I want to that's who Russ had grind them for him. I'm not sure who it was, but I do know that he had someone else do the cams for him.

Yes he did, however I don't recall who it was the ip guys were a different company.

R&D sells an upgraded cam as well, but I think it’s meant for turbo engines.

As for MPG expectations, my NA 91 F250 4x4 with 4.10s and 35s got 17.2 MPG on the last tank (almost all highway). This is with a GPS speedometer so no error due to oversize tires. I have a healthy engine and recent top end rebuild, but I think a big thing is making sure your brakes aren’t dragging. The pre-95 front brake setup can really cause the brakes to drag if you dont pay attention to it.
