IDI

Has any one rebuilt an IDI (7.3), and/or did any high performance work, such as crank, rod, and piston work. I would like to rebuild my 7.3, but add some parts so I can get more hp out of it. I read an article where this guy built a 7.3 idi, and made 1200 hp. Of course I don't wan't to make that type of power (his engine made so much power, it would break the back of the block off after a while), but I'd like to make about 400 ponies.

Anyone know of anyone who builds these engines, or even works on them.

You'll provably have similar results even if You get to 400hp. There is some one here (icanfixall) who rebuild a 7.3l IDI and knows the part #'s and source for many many parts to build a reliable and strong IDI but not near 400hp, sorry. I'd like o see proof on a 7.3l IDI making 1200hp.
