comparing summer consumption to winter fuel consumption?

No.... just plain thirstier all the time.

Its possible that dropping $2500 on injectors and hpop would have sharpened it up some. However, that didn't happen. I bought cummins trucks instead.

Wow, my 7.3 powerstroke E350 has the original injectors and turbo at 542,000 km , Hpop may have been changed before I got it at 360,000 but previous owner didn't tell me about it.
I repaired a leaking fuel line in the R side valley in the last 20,000 km but it only cost me 8" of high pressure fuel line and 4 clamps. I had to do injectors on dad's idi7.3 at 190,000 and headgaskets just after that. 5.9 cummins are a great engine for an AG tractor............
good quality oil changed at regular interval services makes the 7.3 powerstroke one tough and reliable beast . my van is worn out but the engine is so reliable and cheap to run I'll run "Barney " until the police or MTO pull it off the road. I bet a body job and a new rear diff would take it to 800,000 with good maintenance. thats it behind the trailer it hauls I'm rebuilding so I can feel safe hauling 10-14,000 lbs behind it again.

0w40 synthetic in winter, rest of the year it gets 15w40 semi, changed every 10,000km !
