Okay so I found a hydroboost unit from a 93 f 450.. will I need to modify it to fit into my 1987? Different brackets for different body styles?

the underhood stuff is a drop-in. you will need a modified pedal assy in the passenger compartment the 92-97 will not interchange with the 87-91. "alienturtle" made a couple of extras for me. drop by today or wait a month until I get back from MI.

I could do that.. today. also the truck was a stick (460 zf5 and the trans is gone)
I could pull the pedal assembly for someone if needed.

i could have used that trans. i need one for one of my 4x4 recovery trucks. 4.56 gearing with a t19 means really slow going.

when i got to it it was already gone. stupid thing is my cousin works in processing and i asked him if it was auto or stick.. dip told me auto.
i can keep an eye out for a 460 zf5.. you want 2 or 4 wheel?
$75 is a little too high for me. i can drill and weld my pedal.

I suggest you TAKE the pedal that comes with the hydroboost....it should unbolt from inside cab. then remove the cross shaft and take the brake pedal...Also look at the clutch pin and arm...if good remove it too...
you will have a spare!!!!!! if you have a std..
I do not know if the pedals are the same or not but you will have the correct pedal so you can measure for pin placement! You could drill your brake arm and install a pin in the correct location after cutting the old pin off...OR if that pedal is essentially the same physical dimension you can use the correct one...

yeah my truck is a zf5 but towcat says the different body styles use different pedals. i plan to remove the whole pedal assembly. maybe i can list it on ebay or pass the savings to a fellow oil burner.

Mel found out something special about these hydroboost peddles. The auto tran peddle has a differant shaft size compared to the standard peddle has. So be sure of the type of peddle you need to make a hydroboost system work in your truck. I got lucky when I did my changeover to hydrobboost in that the parts truck was sitting in the pick n pull long enough for me to keep going back till I got all the parts.... I had no idea what I needed when I did this swap years ago. It was a new thing way back then. Another member needed the standard peddle hydroboost and boy was that a tuff job removing that mess. In my auto trans application all I did was remove a clip from the peddle shaft and pull out the shaft. The peddle dropped out. Not so with the standard trans rigs. Nuts on the ends of the peddle shaft and even if you remove a nut there isn't enough room to push out the shaft. The entire brake and clutch peddle bracket needs to be removed as one piece... Thats a big under dash job plus... The under hood removel of the ms and other crap makes for a big job.... I wont be doing that ever again for anyone thats for sure... Working under the dash sucks for me with my back issues...

If you have to pull the pedal assembly out which your truck you will, you have to pull the steering column to do it...NOW is the time to add in one of Freebird01 Jason's clutch/firewall plate! Trust me well worth the effort, NO FLEX WHAT SO EVER of fire wall now NADDA!

You bet the firewall reinforcements Jason makes is what all standard trans trucks need and they should have come that way from the factory... But they didn't... So Ford made up these brackets... Then dropped them from inventory.. Now hows that gonna help anyone need ing what for didn't do in the first place... Jason is the only answer out there... Kinda like what Mel does with his Moose material. And what Russ does with his turbos and injection systems and that great torquer cam he has offered.... Its someone looking to fill a gap to keep these rigs running nicely.
