how to flush cooling system

well my rad has been split at the top tank for about a year now, and today i found a used one for $45, not the best but doesn't leak. anyways i was wondering what to use flush my cooling system? thanx alot

Prestone makes a flush chemical that I have used before that seemed to work.

I've had good luck with their two part flush chemical setup, used in conjunction with their flush kit. You have to cut the heater hose, splice in a garden hose connection, and follow directions. You'll be absolutely amazed what comes out of your cooling system.:puke:

Don't use the acid flushes, especially if you just put a fresh rad in. Use the soap based flushes, they will say for the main ingredient, Surfectant ( fancy talk for soap ) That with one of the flush T kits will do the trick. Good idea to install a set of drain petcocks on each side of teh block, where there are block drain plugs for thorough draining
