how should i build up my truck?

Im looking for suggestions on how to build up my truck. im thinking of taking the money and having some friends of mine do the work for free as a school project. i have to pay for parts. ill have about 3000 to put into a suspension and exhaust system. im looking for a max lift of 3 in cuz i want to be able to tow with it still.(gooseneck)

I wanna put 35ins on it but not too wide so i can still use stock rims.

also want some type of locker in the rear cuz im tired of one wheel burnouts and opposite wheels spinning when im stuck.

im gonna build my own 5 in stack kit with a few parts bought fabricated(y pipe) two 5in with chrome flappers!

any suggestions in any areas would be greatly appreciated. or at least what you've done to ur truck would be helpful too!

I had the rough country 4" on my old F250. puts the height just slightly higher than a stock f350. You should be able to fit 35's with it if you use stock rims. Might have to space the bumper a little but they will clear the fenders.

Were there any issues that you had with the kit? things you wanted to be changed? rough ride or noisy?

think twice about those flappers on the stacks, they will tink tink all day and annoy the hell out of you i promise, personally i like the look of rolled mitor cut stacks but it is your beast man jmo

well i wanted to do the flappers cuz i saw an obs psd with em just idlin warmin up at the dirt track parkin lot. it was the sweetest thing i ever saw. plus i wanna be different. everyone does mitered stacks. id be the only one i know that has flappers. plus water wont get in and make that sooty mess when you blow it all back out!

like i said man your beast not mine i hope you get it built up just exactly like you want and i can see what you mean about being different because everyone in my area has stacks and even though i could have stacked it out for less money i just went to get a plain 4 in to 5in tip exhaust that will come out right in front of the rear pass wheel everybody else wanted red trucks i'm going to paint mine blue, it is a constant battle but you got to love the fight and getting to laugh in the face of all those son of a b**ches who said you had an old piece that you could never make anything out of

I'd vote for an air locker for the rear, then you'd have your air compressor for other things already.

well the ins company didn't total my truck so thats out of the question for now. im lookin to fix it myself but change some things and ill be happy with it until i can easily afford a psd. i think im gonna go with a 3 in body lift just cuz of the cost. i can get better tires then and include the locker in back. maybe ill throw a moose pump on it if i have enough $$ left over!

I dont know about everybodys feelings on here, but I think that body lifts are kind of a cheap way trying to do something. Dont get me wrong, I can see how one would want a small body lift to clearance a turbo or something, but 3" is just a little excessive for me. Just go out and get the rough country 4" lift, you would probably be way happier with it.

you might want to look around for stack kits I've done a few and unless you get really lucky or have some old stuff lying around you can get a kit for cheaper then it would cost to piece one together

well i can source the y pipe for $80 and then go to the local semi shop and buy 90 degree 5 in elbows and striaghts and then weld it together. i built my 3in stack kit for 300 and that includes $200 chrome. that was 4 inch with turnouts. chrome costs the same for the 5 in straight cuts. made the y pipe myself and it sounded awesome and was even too! that was on the chevy though. i want bigger pipe for my ford. 3 in dp(or bigger if i get a body lift) to 4in then expand to 5 inch right before 90 up to bed. im doin a body lift because its much cheaper than the lift. i want to make sure that i can still afford to fix the damage that was done.
